The 2017 Cascadia Responsibility Challenge is a competition between three MLS clubs: the Portland Timbers, Seattle Sounders FC and Vancouver Whitecaps FC. Sounders FC won the Cascadia Responsibility Challenge last year by earning the most total points by the end of the 2016 regular season.
In addition to bragging rights, the winning club will earn a pretty cool trophy and supporters of all the clubs will enjoy a safe and family-friendly experience at the stadium. The Cascadia Responsibility Challenge is proof, once again, that Responsibility really does have its Rewards!
The clubs need help from their supporters in order to earn points in the Cascadia Responsibility Challenge.
For every supporter who makes a pledge to be a designated driver at the stadium or promises to be responsible by never driving drunk during regular season home games, that club will earn 1 point in the Cascadia Responsibility Challenge.
Clubs can earn an extra point for each supporter who likes the Cascadia Responsibility Challenge posts on the clubs’ Facebook pages, retweets or favorites tweets on Twitter and likes posts on Instagram. Extra points will be added to the designated driver point total and the responsible fan point total to determine each club’s total score. The club with the greatest total score wins!
Designated drivers must meet the following criteria:
- Be 21 years of age or older
- Promise not to drink alcohol at the game
- Provide safe and sober transportation for their group
Supporters may only pledge to be designated drivers once per game.
